The iconic Park Club Europe celebrates 40 years of history in Playa de Las Américas
Tenerife, November 2025
Park Club Europe, one of the most emblematic resorts in southern Tenerife and part of the Gassmann family legacy, celebrates its 40th anniversary — marking four decades of hospitality and family spirit.
Inaugurated on November 7, 1985, and built in just 16 months, Park Club Europe became the first resort of its kind in Tenerife: a pioneering concept offering guests a carefree and communal holiday experience. Designed and built in three phases, the complex stood out from the beginning for its forward-thinking architectural approach — only two stories high, with large gardens and sports areas instead of maximizing construction volume.
“We gave up 25% of the building capacity to create open, green spaces, out of respect and care for the destination. We wanted our guests to live close to nature, enjoying the climate and the sea, not enclosed in a building.”
— Axel Gassmann, CEO and founder of Europe Hotels International, the owning group.
From the very first day, Park Club Europe stood out for its energy and entertainment concept. It was the first resort in Tenerife with its own professional animation team — a groundbreaking idea in the 1980s that led to unforgettable shows and memories. Among the most curious anecdotes is the famous Christmas parade that featured an elephant crossing the pool, one of the most iconic moments of that decade.
A story of people, generations, and family
More than a hotel, Park Club Europe is a family.
Today, the resort employs around 140 people — over 40% of whom have been with the company for more than 15 years. The animation team consists of 15–18 professionals, highlighting the importance of leisure within the resort’s philosophy. Iconic figures such as Thomas Schindler, the general manager since the early years, remains at the helm and plans to retire alongside his team. Miguel Acosta, who started at the reception in 1987, is now the reservations manager; Ulrike Schindler, current deputy manager, joined in the late 1980s; and Roque, head of the pool area, has been with the hotel since 1991.
Over the years, many colleagues have built bonds that go beyond work — creating lifelong friendships and families within and outside the hotel environment.
From pioneers to the present: a story of evolution
Throughout its four decades, Park Club Europe has continuously adapted to the changing tourism landscape without losing its essence. Initially focused on the German market — working with tour operators that have since disappeared — the hotel has diversified its clientele, now welcoming a strong Italian and international family audience.
In the early 2000s, Park Club Europe was also among the first resorts in Tenerife to adopt the “all-inclusive” concept, anticipating a trend that would later define the future of holiday tourism.
Part of a family legacy: Europe Hotels International
Park Club Europe is part of Europe Hotels International Tenerife S.L., a family-owned hotel group founded in 1973 with the historic Europe Hotel Tenerife — the third hotel ever built in Playa de Las Américas. With over five decades of history, the group has grown to offer seven unique accommodation concepts in Tenerife, Mallorca, Lisbon, Munich, and Berlin, keeping alive the original spirit of its founder: authentic, soulful, and close hospitality.
“Our greatest pride is not what we own, but what we make people feel. Forty years later, Park Club Europe remains a home for guests and team members alike.”
— Axel Gassmann, CEO of Europe Hotels International.
Park Club Europe today: an all-inclusive resort for families
Today, Park Club Europe stands as an all-inclusive resort located in the sunniest area of Tenerife — the prestigious Golden Mile of Playa de Las Américas. It offers a complete family holiday experience, combining sports, activities, swimming pools, live shows, delicious buffets, and snack bars.
The main restaurant, located in the heart of the hotel, features a themed buffet that changes daily. Nearby, La Taberna, situated by the pool, serves refreshing drinks and light bites. Other facilities include a miniclub, children’s playground, ping pong table, football and tennis courts, and nightly entertainment shows.
During the pandemic, the hotel underwent a major renovation — including the lobby, rooms, pools, and gym area — to modernize its facilities and enhance guest comfort.
With its blend of tradition and modernity, Park Club Europe remains true to its original spirit: a club full of life, entertainment, and connection, offering all the comfort of a modern resort.
